Hilton Head Regional Medical Center's Clinical Laboratory and Pathology Departments provide inpatient and outpatient diagnostic tests to aid your physician. Our staff consists of medical technologists, histologists, cytotechnologists, and phlebotomists. Our two board-certified Pathologists oversee the acquisition and analysis of patient specimens in a tightly controlled professional environment. Our results are reported to the clinician through a sophisticated information system.

The Hilton Head Regional Medical Center's Laboratory is accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB).
Our Outpatient Hours are: Main Laboratory on the medical center's main campus, Monday-Friday 7:30 am - 6:00 pm, Saturday 7:30 am - 12:00 pm. Patients are asked to report to Registration before presenting to the Laboratory.

Our Bluffton-Okatie Outpatient Center Laboratory is open Monday - Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.

To expedite the registration process, please call 689-8380 to pre-register for lab tests.

FOR PATIENTS COVERED BY MEDICARE, MEDICAID, AND TRICARE:

As of January 1, 1998, HCFA stopped paying for screening laboratory tests including tests ordered as part of a routine physical examination. If your physician believes that a test is appropriate for your care, even though the payor may not allow reimbursement, you will be asked to sign a Hospital Notice of Noncoverage (HINN) by which you agree to accept the responsibility to pay for the test. If you would like additional information about this regulation, please call the Business Office at (843) 689-8210.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS

If your tests require you to be fasting, you may have water and/or black coffee (no cream or sugar). If you are diabetic, you should take your medication as scheduled.
Please call (843) 689-8261 for further information.
